Winter's Breath

How can you forget
The falling leaves
And the cover of darkness
Written on the stone
A lifeless unfamiliar
 
Rattle the cages for
An eternity still
Without any freedom
To live forever is
Its own kind of prison

Snuck through the cracks
And the sun's gone low
Laid beside the glowing bright

Up before the dawn
On account of sleeping
Atop a hill in the rain storm
Walked another mile
In shoes underwater
 
Stood on the worn out ground
As I waved goodbye to all the
Echoing new sound
Could've formed the words
If I didn't have lies to unlearn
 
Be the rain
And chase the sky
Draw your best idea
Raise a glass to the free at last
